THE HOLY SPIRIT—OUR HELPER!

 EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!

SUNDAY JANUARY 17, 2021.

SUBJECT: THE HOLY SPIRIT—OUR HELPER!

Memory verse: “
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of Me
.” (John 15 vs 26.)

READ: John 16 vs 12 - 15:
16:12: I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
16:13: However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak of His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak: and He will tell you things to come.
16:14: He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine, and declare it to you.
16:15: All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of mine and declare it to you.

INTIMATION:
The Holy Spirit is a distinct Personality in the Godhead, the Third Person in the Godhead—God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. The Three Personalities are united as One the, and work together.
When you become a Christian, you gain all the privileges and responsibilities of a child in God’s family. One of these outstanding privileges is being led by the Spirit (See Galatians 4 vs 5 - 6). We may not always feel as though we belong to God, but the Holy Spirit is our witness. His inward presence reminds us of who we are and encourages us with God’s love (Romans 5 vs 5). He is a very gentle Person, and allows us to take our choices in all things. A leading of the Spirit engenders perfection in walking in consonance with God’s commandments, and is assured of exploits in your life’s endeavors.

The Holy Spirit is very active in His operations in the world. He is in the church, haven been sent at Pentecost by the Father and by Jesus Christ (Acts 2).
He is the Enabler of the personalities involved in the production of Holy Scripture.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would tell His disciples “things to come”; the nature of their mission, the opposition they would face, and the final outcome of their efforts. They did not fully understand these promises until the Holy Spirit came after Jesus’ death and resurrection. Then the Holy Spirit revealed the truths to the disciples which they wrote down in the books that now form the New Testament.

To the believer, the Holy Spirit is the “Spirit of truth.” The truth into which the Spirit guides us is the truth about Jesus Christ and His mission on earth. The Spirit also helps us through patient practice to discern right from wrong.
The Holy Spirit is the agent of change in people when they believe the gospel. When we tell others about Christ, we must depend on the Holy Spirit to open their eyes and convince them that they need salvation. God’s power—not our cleverness or persuasion—changes people. Without the work of the Holy Spirit, our words are meaningless. The Holy Spirit not only convicts people of sin but also assured them of the truth of the gospel.

The Holy Spirit is a powerful person on our side, working for, and with us. He will never leave us. Though the world at large cannot receive Him, but He lives with, and in the believers. He teaches us; reminds us of Jesus’ words (John 14 vs 26; 15 vs 26), convinces us of sin, shows us God’s righteousness, and announces God’s judgement on evil (John 16 vs 8); He guides us into truth and gives insight into future events (John 16 vs 13); He brings glory to Christ (John 16 vs 14).
The Holy Spirit has been active among people from the beginning of time, but after Pentecost (Acts 2) He came to live in all believers. Many people are unaware of the Holy Spirit’s activities, but to those who hear Christ’s words and understand the Spirit’s power, the Spirit gives a whole new way to look at life.

Jesus uses two names for the Holy Spirit—“Helper” and “Spirit of truth.” The Word “Helper” conveys the helping, encouraging, and strengthening work of the Spirit. “Spirit of truth” points to the teaching, illuminating, and reminding work of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to both the head and the heart, and both dimensions are important.  Jesus promised the disciples that the Spirit would help them remember what He had been teaching them. This promise ensures the validity of the New Testament. The disciples were eyewitnesses of Jesus’ life and teachings, and the Spirit helped them remember without taking away their individual perspectives. We can be confident that the Gospels are accurate records of what Jesus taught and did. And the Spirit helps all believers in the same manner. As we study the Bible, we can trust Him to plant truth in our mind, convince us of God’s will, and remind us when we stray from it.

In witnessing for Christ, the Holy Spirit would give us the appropriate words in our time of need. As His followers, our testimony might not make us look impressive, but it would still point out God’s work in the world through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. We need to pray for opportunities to witness for Christ, and then trust Him to help us with our words. This promise of Spirit’s help, however, does not compensate for lack of preparation. Scripture teaches that we are to make careful preparations, and thoughtful statements (Colossians 4 vs 6).
We need to study God’s Word, t
hen the Holy Spirit will bring the truths to mind when we most need them, and help us present them in the most effective way.

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You very much for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I call Him my ‘Senior Partner’ because He is my Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Comforter, Counselor, Standby, Strengthener,
Encourager, and Empowerer
. O Lord, give me the grace never to miss, or quench the leading of the Holy Spirit in my life, in Jesus’ Name I have prayed. Amen.
PRAISE THE LORD!

GOD IS STILL IN THE CREATION BUSINESS!

God Is Still in the Creation Business!

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10 (KJV)

Knowing that God is still in the creation business puts an end to all anxiety. The Psalmist came to a point in his life where he needed a clean heart to be created for him. Why was he asking for a new heart? He had committed a grievous sin and the only way to be restored was to have a new heart to fellowship with God again. He saw God as the creator of all things and could still create a new heart for him. Hallelujah! In the New Testament, Jesus Christ introduced a new revelation to mankind: the born again doctrine, where a person’s heart or spirit is created anew after accepting Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Personal Savior (John 3:3). Therefore, the prayer of the Psalmist in the opening Scripture was totally or fully fulfilled in Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Praise the Lord! God is still in the creation business. Beloved, what do you need as a child of God? If God is capable of making you born again, and you become a new creation, then He is capable of creating something which is not already in existence for you (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, cheer up Beloved, and worship God with all your heart, soul, and might. Ask what you want according to His Word and He will create it for you even if it is not yet in existence. He knows how to give good gifts to His children, so be patient with Him and always find a good reason to rejoice in the life He has given you. Live a life of purpose and He will supply. Hallelujah! Be an overcomer!

Prayer Point: Gracious Father, I’m so happy to hear that You are still in the creation business. I have made up my mind to live a life of purpose. I’m also patiently waiting for the supply of all my needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. I receive them by faith, and I know they will manifest in due time in Jesus’ name. Amen!

YOU CAN SEND THE WORD OF GOD!

You Can Send the Word of God!

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Psalms 107:20 (KJV)

The Word of God is at your service; you can send Him to do your good desire. The Almighty God cannot do anything without His Word; His Word must go before Him to accomplish every purpose (Isaiah 55:11). In the opening Scripture, He sent His Word to heal His people and to deliver them from destruction. He has given us an example for us to follow; hence, when we are in need of healing in any area of our life, we must send His Word to heal and deliver that area from destruction. The Word of God or Holy Scriptures is so powerful that we don’t have to underrate or undermine it (Hebrews 4:12). If there is anything we must strive for or sacrifice for, it must be the Word of God. He has the enabling power to produce whatever we need. Hallelujah! Dear beloved, Go for The Word and you will never remain the same. The Word of God takes the pronoun “He” because the Word is a person; He is Jesus Christ (John 1:14). Therefore, relate with Him as a person and He will work for you when you send for Him in faith. Hallelujah! The Word works!

Prayer Point: My dear heavenly Father, thank You for making Your Word available to me. I send Your Word to heal my family, marriage, business, job, community, nation, and every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen!

GUARD AGAINST PRIDE!

 EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!

SATURDAY JANUARY 16, 2021.

SUBJECT : GUARD AGAINST PRIDE!

Memory verse: "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
(Proverbs 16 vs 18.)

READ: Psalm 12 vs 3; 101 vs 5;  Proverbs 8 vs 13; 11 vs 2; 16 vs 5; 29 vs 23:

Psalm 12:3: May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things.
Psalm 101:5: Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy, the one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, him I will not endure.

Proverbs 8:13: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.
11:2: When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.
16:5: Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
29:23: A man's pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor.

INTIMATION:
Pride is inordinate self-esteem or conceit; disdainful treatment of others. Pride, in the Scripture, also denotes being boastful, haughty, vainglory, presumptuous, and puffed up. Many believers are lofty in their thoughts. They always believe that to surrender to Jesus Christ is all that is required, and all other things will by itself fall into places. Consequently, a humble and contrite spirit, which are the major requirements for believers, are grossly lacking in them.

When they have been driven by pride into wrong doing, they try their best to rationalize their actions, using such words as; "He spoke to me harshly and I gave it back to him," "I was provoked to anger, and I reacted the way I did." It is often their desire to return evil for evil, tear people down verbally or get back at them, if they feel hurt. But this is ungodly, God encourages us to pay back wrongs by praying for the offenders, to seek peace and pursue it. If we love life and desire to see good days, we should eschew evil and do good.

"I was wrong" or "I am sorry" are difficult phrases to utter because they require humility. Pride is an ingredient in every quarrel. It stirs up conflict and divides people. Examine your life truthfully, and you will acknowledge that pride has been leading you to quarrels. Humility, by contrast, heals. If you find yourself constantly arguing, always trying to rationalize your actions and behaviors, examine your life for pride. Be willing to admit your mistakes, and be open to godly advice of others, and ask for help when you need it.

Pride is the inner voice that whispers, "My way is best." It is resisting God's leadership, negating His concepts, and believing that you are able to live without His help. Whenever you find yourself doing this, or wanting to do it your way and looking down on other people, you are being pulled by pride. Only when you eliminate pride can God help you become all He meant you to be. Proud people take little account of their weaknesses and do not anticipate stumbling blocks. They think they are above the frailties of common people, but they are always caught in that web. In this state of mind they are easily tripped up. Ironically, proud people seldom realize that pride is their problem.

Humility is the cure of pride. Pride leads to disgrace, punishment, destruction; it produces quarrels, ends up in downfall, and brings one low. In contrast, humility leads to wisdom, honor, and takes advice. The proud attitude heads the list of seven things God hates: "These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6 vs 16 - 19.)

Pride and lies go hand in hand. The proud will always seek to defend their actions, requiring to put up a defense. Such defense are fraughted with lies in other to drive home their point. We may be tempted to believe that some lies are relatively harmless, even useful at times. But God does not overlook lies, flattery, deception, or boasting. Each of these sins originates from a bad attitude that is eventually expressed in our speech. The tongue can be our greatest enemy because, though small, it can do great damage (See James 3 vs 5 - 6). Be careful how you use yours.

Avoid pride when God prospers you, and makes you powerful. It is true that "pride goes before destruction."  If God has given you wealth, influence, popularity, and power, be thankful, but be careful. God hates pride. While it is normal to feel elation when we accomplish something, it is wrong to be disdainful of God or to look down on others. Give God credit of what you have, and use your gifts in ways that pleases Him. Remember, no matter what your position in society, God expects you to honor, worship, and obey Him.

Prayer: Abba Father, endue me with a humble spirit, that I may constantly examine my ways, thoughts, and actions to eliminate any form of pride. Give me the grace to admit my faults, my wrongs, and to boldly say "I am sorry," in Jesus' Name I have prayed, Amen.

WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

 EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!

FRUDAY JANUARY 15, 2021.

SUBJECT: WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Memory verse: "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him." (John 4 vs 23.)

READ: John 4 vs 23 - 24; Hebrews 12 vs 28
John 4:23: But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
4:24: God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

INTIMATION:
Worship is paying great honor to; to love and admire very greatly. Worship is the appropriate response to God's self-revelation. You worship because you know the worth of what you worship. You worship God because you know who He is. When you catch the revelation of God and His worth, the appropriate response is to reverence Him in worship. True worshipers, therefore, would worship God after the spirit and according to the knowledge of the one true God. As opposed to the worship of the Samaritans and the Jews at that time, who did not know whom they worshiped, and worshiped after the traditions of their fathers (Mark 7 vs 1 - 9).

Worship must be based on the truth of Scripture, not our opinions or feeling about God. Jesus told the Samaritan woman that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. To "worship in truth" means to worship God as He is truly revealed in the Bible; the worship that is truth directed. The worship is directed to to the God who has revealed Himself through inspired words of revelation. What Jesus is saying in this most profound statement is that one must know the word of God in order to worship the God of the word. Ignorance of God’s Word leads to one worshiping a god who is the creation of one’s mind. Such is the spirit of idolatry.

God is spirit (Second Corinthians 3 vs 17). He cannot be seen by mortal eyes. Neither can He be conceived to be a physical being after the form of man. Since God is spirit, then those who worship Him cannot do so after material means. True worshipers approach God on a spiritual basis. Christians are those “who God in the spirit” (Philippians 3 vs 3). “God is Spirit” means He is not a physical being limited to one place. He is present everywhere, and can be worshiped anywhere, at any time. It is not where we worship that counts, but how we worship. Your worship must be genuine, and acceptable. Genuine worship is spirited. You must engage your real you, and your real you is in your spirit.

Your worship is acceptable to God when it’s in truth and in spirit, and involves the total of you. You use your all to worship the all powerful, all knowing, present everywhere, all sufficient, and all merciful God. Let the all in you worship the all encompassing God. He wants all of you. He is not interested in halfhearted commitment, partial obedience, and the leftovers of your time and money. He desires your full devotion, and complete commitment. That is the first commandment given to us by Jesus in Mark 12 vs 30; “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength...”

The Bible, in First Corinthians 2 vs 11 says; "For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God." The things of a man are known to the spirit of man, and only the spirit of man can genuinely worship God accurately. When Jesus said, "Love God with all your heart and soul" He meant that worship must be genuine and heartfelt. It is not just a matter of saying the right words; you must mean what you say, engaging your inner self in all you do. Heartless worship is not worship at all! It is an insult to God.

We must remember that true worship originates first with the heart and is directed according to how God had determined that our worship toward Him should be conducted. We must also remember that the heart is motivated by love. A loving heart worships God because God had simulated such by His own love. When we worship, God looks past our words to see the attitude of our hearts. The Bible says, "Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (First Samuel 16 vs 7.) Therefore, your heartfelt worship is what God accepts and responds to.

Prayer: Abba Father, I praise You with my whole heart, and all that is within me bless Your Holy Name. O Lord, let Your Word dwell in me richly in all wisdom, that I may
worship You acceptably with grace in my heart, giving thanks always for all things to You in Jesus’ Name I have prayed, Amen.

HEALING PRAYER

 A Prayer for Healing

healing

Are you facing a difficult disease, illness or malady and want to cry out to God for healing but don't know what to pray? If you feel scared, alone, unsure of the future, or don't understand how healing works, pray these words below in faith today! Below are four prayers for healing, an interview with Max Lucado explaining how we should pray for healing, and some of our favorite Bible verses on healing.

God tells us that through prayer, He can speak to us and use us to work miracles for His glory. When you use this prayer for healing you are coming to God completely surrendered and expectant to let His Holy Spirit work in and through you. I pray that you will find miraculous healing as you seek God's plan for your life - His plan to prosper you and to give you a hope and future!

Here are Four Prayers for Healing you can use today to speak life and hope into your situation.

A Prayer for Personal Healing
  1. God, you know me so well. You created me. You know the number of hairs on my head, and you even know the thoughts conceived in my heart before I ever vocalize them. You've told us to come to you and ask for every need of life. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and you have the final word on my destiny, the number of years I'll live and serve you on earth.
  2. I'm coming to you today as your child, longing to hear from you and asking for your divine healing. There's so much I don't understand about life. But I do know that with one touch, one word, you can make me whole. Please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me of my unrighteousness, and begin your healing from the inside out.
  3. I don't always know what your will is Lord, especially in times like now, when I desperately seek your face. I offer you no promises, no bargains, no deals to exchange for my health. I simply bow my heart before you to tell you the desire of my heart: that I want to spend as many years as I can loving you here, loving others, and wanting to become more like you. However you choose to accomplish that is up to you—and okay with me. If you use doctors to provide healing, give them wisdom to know what to do. Regardless of how you accomplish it, the healing you give is always miraculous. And you deserve all the praise.
  4. I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth, and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you say it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my heart and life in your hands. It's up to you. If I can bring you more glory through healing, then that's what I ask for. That's what I desire.
  5. But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for me. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on this earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough, deep-down cleansing and strengthening—a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a "what-if" faith to a "no-matter-what" faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and give you glory. In Jesus's name, Amen.

A Short Prayer for Healing for Friends

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please reach down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect her from Satan's lies and discouragement and let her miraculous healing begin. Amen.

A Prayer for Healing and Grace

Dear God,
We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we've carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
~ Debbie McDaniel

A Prayer for Healing Sick Family and Friends
Lord Jesus, thank you that you love [name of person who needs healing]. I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.

Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20 that when we call out to you the Eternal one you will give the order, heal and rescue us from certain death. In the Bible, I have read of miraculous healing and I believe that you still heal the same way today. I believe that there is no illness you cannot heal after all the bible tells of you raising people from the dead so I ask for your healing in this situation.

I also know from my experience of life on earth that not everyone is healed. If that happens here than keep my heart soft towards you, help me to understand your plan and help me to be excited about heaven.

God, I thank you that [name of person who needs healing] belongs to you and that you are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.
Amen.
~ Wendy van Eyck

Healing Bible Verses

Psalm 107:19-20
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.
