DON’T CONFUSE GRACE WITH PERMISSION TO ERR

Date: Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025

Title: DON’T CONFUSE GRACE WITH PERMISSION TO ERR

Romans 6:1–2, Ezra 9:2

One of the dangerous lies creeping into the church today is the idea that grace is a subsidy for error. Some believers think God’s grace allows them to marry anyone they like, even when that choice clearly violates His word. But Paul asked pointedly, “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid” (Romans 6:1–2). Grace is not a cover for recklessness—it is the empowerment to live above compromise. Ezra rebuked Israel because they mingled the holy seed with strange nations, saying, “The holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands” (Ezra 9:2). That same error is alive today: believers lowering God’s standard in marriage and expecting grace to cover the fallout.Beloved, marriage is not where you experiment with the mercy of God. If God gave priests strict instructions on whom to marry under the Old Testament, how much more under grace, where we carry His Spirit within us? Grace is not license; it is responsibility. Grace demands you wait on God for His choice and refuse every counterfeit that appeals to the flesh. The devil will always present “good-looking alternatives” to destiny, but grace gives you strength to say no. If you truly value your calling, you cannot afford to lower the standard. Marrying outside God’s will may look harmless at first, but it is a seed of sorrow that grows into regret. In practice, don’t let emotions, pressure, or pity deceive you. Refuse to baptise lust as “compatibility.” Don’t think a good man without the Spirit, or a nice woman without consecration, is God’s choice for you. Grace empowers you to stand alone until God’s plan appears. It strengthens you to flee every appearance of evil and wait for heaven’s release. If you are married already, grace can realign your home—yield to the Spirit and He will raise the standard again in your union. Always remember: grace is divine energy to keep God’s standard, never to lower it.THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I treating grace as divine strength to uphold God’s standard, or as an excuse to lower it? Have I allowed emotions to baptise what God has clearly rejected?

Prayer: Lord, let Your grace strengthen me to uphold Your standard in marriage. Deliver me from every deception that lowers the bar of destiny.

Every day in the God's Word

 EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!

MONDAY DECEMBER 22, 2025.

SUBJECT : THE SHEPHERD OF THE RIGHTEOUS!

Memory verse: "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27 vs 1.)

READ: Psalm 23 vs 1 - 6:

23:1: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

23:2: He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

23:3: He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.

23:4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

23:5: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

23:6: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

INTIMATION:

The Lord is the shepherd of the righteous. The Scriptures in the 'New Testament' calls Jesus the good shepherd (John 10 vs 11); the great shepherd (Hebrews 13 vs 20); and the chief shepherd (First Peter 5 vs 4). When one submits to the shepherding of God, he trusts that God will provide all that is necessary for survival. Because of the Lord’s care over us, we are satisfied with the spiritual food that comes from Him, and thus we take our rest in the shadow of His care. The righteous know their God, and He leads them according to His Will to places of security.

Jesus is the good Shepherd, who tends to us—His sheep—out of love, and is committed to us, even to the extent of laying His life for us. As the Lord is a good shepherd, so we are His sheep; not frightened and passive, but obedient followers, wise enough to follow one who will lead us in the right places and right ways. As calm waters naturally soothe one’s mind in times of trouble, so God takes us to places where the turmoil of life can be endured. And the calm waters our inner man is renewed and refreshed.

The Lord leads us down paths that take us to that which is good for us. The two significant results of the death and resurrection of our Messiah, Jesus Christ, our great Shepherd, is found in His work in us to make us the kind of people that would please Him, and He equips us to do the kind of work that would please Him. Consequently, 'He restores our souls, and leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake: "Righteousness will go before Him, and shall make His footsteps our pathway." (Psalm 85 vs 13.) He does this in order that His name be glorified among the nations. He is holy, and therefore, desires that His people be holy.

We can trust that God will always meet the needs of the righteous. Whatever they need on earth He will supply, even if it is the courage to face death. Whatever they need in heaven He will supply. The psalm we read today is probably the most quoted of all the psalms simply because in a few words it portrays the life of the righteous. Though the righteous must live in a world that is plagued with suffering and turmoil, they must put their faith in God as they struggle through life. The psalm is a sublime utterance of those who are focused on staying close to God.

God has complete ability to meet our needs. Just as the sheep is dependent on the shepherd to meet its needs, so are we to our Father in heaven. He is our Shepherd and we are His sheep (flock). The sheep are completely dependent on the shepherd for provision, guidance, and protection.

We must remember, however, the difference between our wants and our needs. Most people want to feel good and avoid discomfort or pain. We may not get all that we want. By trusting in Christ, our attitudes and appetites can change from wanting everything to accepting His provision and power to live for Him.

When we allow God our shepherd to guide us, we have contentment. He knows the "green pastures" and "still waters" that will restore us. We will reach these places only by following Him obediently. Rebelling against the shepherd's leading is actually rebelling against our own best interests. God works in us to make us the kind of people that would please Him, and if you are obedient, you will eat the fruit of the land: "For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes" (Revelation 7 vs 17).

Even in death, He is with us. Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies; pain, suffering, disease, injury, but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word. Only God—the God of life—our shepherd, can walk us through death's dark valley and bring us safely to the other side, and ensures our eternal comfort amidst life's uncertainties. God offers protection even when enemies surround us, and believers will dwell with God.

The perfect shepherd and host, promises to guide and protect us through life to bring us into His house forever. The psalmist says, "One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. For in time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon the rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me..." (Psalm 27 vs 4 - 6.)

Prayer: Abba Father, in You I live, and move, and have my being. You are my strong tower, I run into You and am saved. Give me the grace to hear Your voice, know Your ways, and follow You all the days of my life, in Jesus’ Name I have prayed. Amen.

MARRIAGE IS A PROGRESSION OF DESTINY, NOT A DETOUR

Date: Monday, December 22nd, 2025

Title: MARRIAGE IS A PROGRESSION OF DESTINY, NOT A DETOUR

Genesis 2:18, Ecclesiastes 4:9

Marriage was never designed to derail or distract you—it was instituted by God to advance destiny. “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Genesis 2:18). Marriage is a continuation of God’s programme, not a side project. It is not a “special season” that suspends destiny; rather, it is the next stage in its unfolding. Ecclesiastes 4:9 confirms this: “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.” When marriage is in God’s will, both partners accomplish in a short time what one would have struggled to do alone. The tragedy today is that many treat marriage as an end in itself. Some sisters think once they marry, everything is complete; and some brothers think a wife is merely an accessory to their success. No! Marriage is not a trophy—it is a tool. A wrong marriage reduces speed, weakens the spirit, and clouds vision. That is why the devil fights hardest at this junction: he knows that once you marry wrong, your destiny is compromised. But when you marry right, marriage becomes a launchpad for destiny. It sharpens your focus, multiplies your strength, and gives you a companion in the battles of life. Don’t see marriage as a holiday from consecration; see it as a higher classroom in destiny.Practically, before saying “yes” or giving a proposal, ask yourself: Does this person help me see clearer? Do they multiply my pursuit of God or diminish it? If the answer is negative, don’t let pity, age, or pressure deceive you. Marriage is not rescue from loneliness; it is responsibility for destiny. If you are already married, align your home to God’s purpose. Pray together, plan together, and pursue destiny together. When marriage is properly aligned, it is not a detour but a divine progression that brings you into the fullness of God’s plan.THOUGHT TO PONDER: Do I see marriage as a progression of destiny or as a detour into personal comfort? Is my union helping me accomplish more for God than I could alone?

Prayer: Lord, let my marriage be a continuation of Your programme for my life. Deliver me from every detour that derails destiny.

SUBJECT: THE BANE OF IMPURE MOTIVES!

Memory verse: "But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.” (Matthew 23 vs 5.)

READ: Matthew 6 vs 1 - 6, 17 - 18:

6:1: “Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

6:2: Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

6:3: But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

6:4: that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

6:5: And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

6:6: But you when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

6:17: But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

6:18: so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

INTIMATION:

Motive is something—incentive, purpose, intention—that causes a person to act. Therefore, a pure motive is devoid of any form of selfishness. When we pray, when we fast, and when we give, the Bible says that we must be pure in our motives. If you do any of these things being self-centered other than being God-centered, then your motive is impure. God abhors anything that we do that takes Him out of the first place in our lives.

For instance, when you do something for the sake of being seen by others, your motive is impure, and Jesus said that being seen by others is our only reward. If, however, we do what we do in obedience to God—putting God and His desires first—then our motive is pure, devoid of any selfishness, and God will reward us. Obedience to God is key to receiving from Him: “If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures” (Job 36 vs 11).

Therefore, believers should avoid doing their deeds of righteousness in order to receive recognition of men. If they do, then they have received their rewards. Believers let their light shine, but not for the purpose of drawing attention to themselves. Believers should give in a manner by which they do not intentionally seek the praise of men. Their giving should be as private as possible in order that one’s motives for giving be kept pure. The hypocrites do good, but their hearts are far from God.

It’s easier to do what’s right when we gain recognition and praise. To be sure our motives are not selfish, we should do our good deeds quietly or in secret, with no thought of reward. Jesus says we should check our motives in three areas: generosity, prayer, and fasting. These acts should not be self-centered but God-centered, done not to make us look good but to make God look good.

Impure motive Jesus calls ‘hypocrisy.’ The term hypocrisy, as used in the Scriptures, describe the acts of people doing good for appearances only—not out of compassion or other good motives. Their actions may be good, but their motives are questionable—empty and self-serving. These empty and self-serving acts, wanting to boost their ego, are their rewards. But God will reward those who are sincere in their faith, obeying and serving Him sincerely.

Our relationship with God is personal, hence Jesus requiring us to be private in our dealings. When He says not to let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, He is teaching us actions in pure motives. It is easy to give with mixed motives, like doing something for someone if it will benefit us in return, or doing things for selfish ambitions, like public recognition and applaud. Jesus teaches that believers should avoid all forms of scheming, but rather our actions must be in response to God’s love, and obedience to Him.

Some people really don’t care about holiness, as demanded by God, but likes looking holy, or be seen as holy in order to receive people’s admiration and praise. Such people like public prayers where they speak on top of their voices and gyrate as if under the power of the Holy Spirit, just for public recognition. The essence of prayer is not public style, but private communication with God. There is a place for public prayer (corporate prayer), but to pray only where others will notice you indicates that your real audience is not God, but rather self-recognition, which is an impure motive.

Some may conclude that Jesus’ directions about private prayer calls into question all public prayers. That is an obvious misunderstanding of His teaching. The Gospels recorded Jesus praying both privately (Matthew 14 vs 23) and publicly (Matthew 14 vs 18 - 19). Jesus did not condemn public prayer, but praying in order to be seen of men He condemned.

Jesus was only drawing attention to the motives behind actions. The point really wasn’t a choice between public and private prayer, but between heartfelt and hypocritical prayer. When asked to pray in public, focus on addressing God, not on how you are coming across to others. Believers should pray often in a quiet environment in order to express their innermost feelings to the Father.

Fasting should not be in order to draw attention to one’s performance of religious rites. Fasting is to be directed toward the inner self in order to focus one’s mind on God. By concentrating on the inner spiritual part of man, believers should give no outward indication of their fasting. The purpose of fasting is to inwardly humble oneself before God in order to proclaim one’s dependence on the work of God in his or her life. In humbling ourselves before God, we manifest our dependence on God in order to plead for His work in our lives.

Prayer: Abba Father, give me the grace to be pure in my motives in all I do, especially in my prayers, that I may please You in my supplication, and eschew compromises of any form in my life, that I may not to be a friend to the world, and an enemy to You, in Jesus’ Name I have prayed, Amen.

PRAISE THE LORD!

YOUR DESIRES CANNOT SUBSTITUTE GOD’S WILL

Date: Sunday, December 21st, 2025

Title: YOUR DESIRES CANNOT SUBSTITUTE GOD’S WILL

Matthew 26:39, Jeremiah 29:11

The greatest enemy of divine leading is personal desire. Jesus Himself had to bring His will under subjection when He prayed, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39). If the Son of God had to lay down His desires for the Father’s will, then you too must come to Gethsemane in your marital choices. God already has thoughts of peace for you, not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). But you must surrender your emotions, preferences, and ambitions so that His higher wisdom can prevail. The mistake many believers make is to confuse desire with destiny. A man says, “I like her shape,” or a woman says, “He has money,” and they conclude God has spoken. Your desires are shaped by culture, upbringing, and flesh—they are unreliable compasses for destiny. If you follow them blindly, you will walk straight into satanic traps. Grace is not a licence to indulge your emotions; it is a divine empowerment to rise above them. Don’t assume that because you prayed with fasting, God will rubber-stamp your desire. If your will is not crucified, you will still mishear Him. A destiny marriage begins when you can genuinely say, “Lord, not my will, but Thine be done.”Practically, take every attraction to the cross. Refuse to baptise lust as “love.” Refuse to let family pressure push you into choices God has not approved. Train yourself to hear God in small things daily, so that when marriage is before you, His voice will be clear. If you ignore His leading and go ahead with your desire, you will not only frustrate yourself but endanger your children’s inheritance. But if you embrace His will, even when it cuts across your flesh, you will walk into joy, peace, and a marriage that powers your destiny.THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I allowing my desires to compete with God’s will in the matter of marriage? Have I surrendered fully to the Lordship of Jesus in this area of my life?

Prayer: Lord, crucify my fleshly desires and align my heart with Your perfect will for marriage and destiny.

 EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!

SATURDAY DECEMBER 20, 2025.

SUBJECT : THE FLESH AND BLOOD OF JESUS!

Memory verse: "He who eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in Me, and I in him.” (John 6 vs 56.)

READ: John 6 vs 51 - 58:

6:51: I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

6:52: The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

6:53: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

6:54: Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

6:55: For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

6:56: He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

6:57: As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

6:58: This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

INTIMATION:

The Lord’s Supper (the eating and drinking of the flesh and blood of Jesus) was when Jesus celebrated with the apostles their deliverance from sin through the cross. He also wanted them and all that will believe in the new covenant to celebrate what would take place that would result in their forgiveness of sins. The blood of Jesus that cleansed us of sin, brings us into a covenant relationship with God.

Jesus gave His incarnate body in order to be a sacrifice for the sins of those who would hear and learn from Him. As a result they would respond to the events of the good news of His death, burial and resurrection. Therefore, through the eating of the Supper (the flesh and blood of Jesus), Christians spiritually drink and eat of His blood and body because they abide in Him and He in them.

The life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17 vs 11). The two are essential elements in man’s physical being. Those who eat the flesh of Jesus, who is the Bread of Life, will never die spiritually. They will dwell in God’s presence without end. Jesus said the metaphorical statement that one must partake of Him as the Bread of Life in order to sustain his life throughout eternity. Jesus gives spiritual life that comes from His sacrificial death on the cross.

When we partake of the bread during the Lord’s Supper, we partake of the life that we have in the body of Christ. If one is not in the body, therefore, he does not have life. It is for this reason that we are baptized into the body in order to have life. As the life of the flesh is in the blood, and was forfeited by sin, life eternal can be imparted only by the expiation made in giving up of His life by the sinless Savior.

The shedding of His blood in expiratory sacrifice brings us into a covenant relationship with God to enjoy His covering. To “drink His blood” is to appropriate the saving effects of His expiatory death. "God's Covering" is an expression which describes the spiritual protection and nurture which God provides for all those who are in a covenant relationship with Him. You cannot see His covering but you can certainly experience the effect which it has. The believer is not only saved, redeemed, and justified by the blood of Christ, the blood sets the believer free from the power of sin and makes him holy and enables him to grow in Christ likeness by the work of the Holy Spirit.

The new covenant in the blood of Jesus is the platform that allows us to enter into the presence of a perfect and holy God. It was shed on our behalf, and it grants us membership into a divine family and access to God's presence. It is the most precious treasure, and we should never lose our gratitude toward it. Through the blood of Jesus, our sins are not just covered, but completely washed away. The blood of Jesus is the bridge that reconciles us to God and makes us his beloved. In the blood of Jesus, we find victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

Those who are eating and drinking the “flesh and blood” of Jesus are the ones who have eternal life. Therefore, Christians are actively eating and drinking of the Lord’s Supper today that Jesus instituted. They eat and drink of the bread and fruit of the vine that represents the body (life) and blood (atoning sacrifice) of Jesus. Therefore, they are the ones who are in possession of eternal life because they have obeyed the Gospel in order to come into Christ (Romans 6 vs 3 - 6). When Christians partake of the Super, they are figuratively partaking of the incarnate blood and body of Jesus that was given as an atonement offering for their sins (Romans 3 vs 25).

In His incarnate state on earth, the Son was sustained by the power of God as everything of this world is sustained. Jesus lived because of His obedience to do the Will of the Father. In like manner, those who continue to feed on Jesus will continue to be sustained by Jesus who continues throughout eternity. Therefore, the eternity of anyone depends on their feeding on the life that proceeds from Jesus. Those who do not feed on Jesus cannot expect to be sustained throughout eternity.

Eternal existence, therefore, depends on remaining in the presence of God who is indigenously eternal. Nothing can maintain eternity apart from the presence of God. Only God is eternal, and thus, all who would desire eternal existence must seek to come into a relationship with God.

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the Supreme Sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Messiah on the cross for our salvation, and for our new covenant relationship with You. I will continually celebrate the event of the cross by the eating and drinking of the body and blood of Jesus, and rejoice in my continued sustenance in Your presence by Your mighty power, in Jesus’ Name I have prayed. Amen.

PRAISE THE LORD!

MARRIAGE MUST ALIGN WITH YOUR CALLING

Date: Saturday, December 20th, 2025

Title: MARRIAGE MUST ALIGN WITH YOUR CALLING

Amos 3:3, John 5:30

No man fulfils destiny in isolation. The Bible asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). Agreement here is not about hobbies or preferences—it is about alignment in the spirit. Jesus Himself declared, “I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5:30). If Jesus submitted His will to the Father to fulfil His mission, how much more must we submit our marital choices to God’s will? Any marriage that does not align with your calling will eventually drag you away from it.A husband is meant to be helped by his wife, not hindered, and a wife is meant to be covered by her husband, not confused. When you marry outside your calling, you either spend your years struggling to pull a reluctant spouse along or you abandon your call to keep the marriage. That is why God will never choose a partner for you who is opposed to His assignment for your life. Sisters, you must ask, “What is this man’s destiny? What exactly am I to help him with?” Brothers, don’t marry a woman who despises your call, no matter how beautiful she looks or how much she flatters you. Beauty fades, but divine purpose endures.Practically, don’t be sentimental when it comes to destiny. If God says no, don’t negotiate. If He says wait, don’t run ahead. Marriage is a covenant partnership for divine assignment. A missionary cannot afford to marry a partner who hates the mission field, just as a minister cannot marry someone who despises the anointing. Let God choose for you; He knows who will fit your calling perfectly. If you are married already, consecrate your union afresh to God and insist that your home will serve His purpose. Anything less than destiny alignment is dangerous compromise.THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I choosing a partner who aligns with God’s call on my life? Or am I dragging sentiment into a decision that demands accuracy?

Prayer: Lord, let my marriage align fully with Your call on my life. Deliver me from every compromise that will hinder my destiny.
