EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!
SATURDAY AUGUST 29, 2026.
SUBJECT: DO NOT GROW WEARY OF DOING GOOD!
Memory verse: "But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good." (Second Thessalonians 3 vs 13.)
READ: Galatians 6 vs 7 - 10:
6:7: Do not be decieved, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will reap.
6:8: For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
6:9: And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
6:10: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
INTIMATION:
To grow weary is to feel tired, discouraged, or wanting to quit, regarding something, especially when it relates to helping or doing good to others, and when help is hard or results take too long. However, it is normal to feel tired, burnt out, or discouraged when you work hard and see no immediate results.
"Doing good" is acting with love, kindness, honesty, and generosity toward the people around you through patience, kindness, and faithful actions.
"Due season" denotes the right, appointed time set by God when your efforts will bear fruit, not at your own time. And it's noteworthy that you will receive your reward or harvest only if you do not give up. Just like a farmer plants seeds and has to wait for crops to grow, your good deeds are like seeds. Persistence is the key. You only miss the harvest if you walk away before the time of growth arrives.
It is discouraging to continue to do right and receive no word of thanks or see no tangible results. However, as a child of God, when you feel like your efforts to be kind, honest, or helpful go unnoticed, don't be discouraged, rather rest assured that your positive actions matter and will bear fruit eventually. Keep on doing good and trust God for the results. In due time, you will reap a harvest of blessing. When we keep our eyes on God as our reward, we are strengthened in good works and are rewarded by God Himself.
Believers in Christ must be zealous to do good works, for this is one reason why they have been brought forth in Christ (Ephesians 2 vs 10.) They must not become lazy or discouraged in doing that which brings glory to the Father. They do good, not for the purpose of putting God in debt to reward one with heaven. They do good because of a feeling of thanksgiving for their salvation by God's grace. They do good because they are in Christ, not in order to come to Christ.
Even if you are treated wrongfully for doing good, you should maintain good works. In this way you are among the preserving salt of the society. Every opportunity must be taken to work that which is good, because we were brought forth by the grace of God. We are encouraged as believers in Christ to keep helping others and doing the right thing, even when it feels hard or unappreciated. It is paramount that your hard work and kindness will eventually bring a reward if you refuse to quit.
It's noteworthy that in doing good to those who are not of the household of faith, Christians proclaim that Jesus is their Lord. They proclaim the value system of Christianity to all the world in order to draw the world to Christ.
It's a principle of life that one reaps what he sows. One must not be deceived into thinking that he can escape the consequences of his behavior. To think one can, is to mock God, for God says that we will reap what we sow, not only in this life, but also in that which is to come. It would certainly be a surprise if you planted corn and pumpkins came up. It's a natural law to harvest what we plant. If you plant to please God, such as being persistent in good works, you will harvest joy and everlasting life.
Prayers: Abba Father, You recreated me in Christ for good works. Endue with the excellent spirit of remaining steadfast in doing good works knowing that Your reward is with You to give everyone according to one's works, in Jesus' Name I have prayed. Amen.
