EVERYDAY IN THE WORD!
WEDNESDAY JULY 29, 2026.
SUBJECT: BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!
Memory verse: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5 vs 8.)
READ: Romans 12 vs 17 - 12:
12:17: Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
12:18: If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
12:19: Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.
12:20: Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.
12:21: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
INTIMATION:
Making peace means facing problems honestly to fix what is broken. Therefore, "Peacemakers" are those who work to bring harmony, calm anger, actively work to stop anger, and heal broken relationships between people. They actively resolving conflict, and building mutual understanding. These are people who help others find common ground and forgive each other. Across all contexts, it is a deliberate, compassionate effort to replace division with unity.
Unlike "peacekeepers" who simply avoid conflict to maintain a superficial calm, peacemakers courageously step into tension to address root issues, promote reconciliation, and seek justice. They do God's work to the world to show that they belong to God's family. They are those who recognize their own sinfulness and seek peace of mind with others.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Peacemakers begin from a foundation of personal peace that arises from their experience of reconciliation to God through Christ. They rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance and inspiration as they navigate sensitive situations.
The inherent blessing of being "the children of God" is because the people who live this way show the family likeness of God, who loves peace and reconciliation. They portray the spirit of God in their relationship with others. They are not contentious, nor do they have a spirit to argue with others.
God loves peace and healing, so people who do this show they belong to His family. Because God works to heal the divide between humanity and Himself, people who make peace act just like their Heavenly Father; reflecting God. This character trait clashes with the worldly value of personal peace being pursued without concern for the world’s chaos.
Once we have peace with Jesus, we are called to be His peacemakers. And we have the duty to point others toward the ultimate source of peace (First Thessalonians 5 vs 23). Then live out the call to pursue peace, harmony and reconciliation (Psalm 34 vs 14; Romans 12 vs 18).
To live out this character trait in our daily life, you should do the following: (1) Forgive people when they hurt you, apologize when you are wrong, and listen instead of fighting back. (2) Stand up for people who are treated unfairly in communities, and help neighbors who are struggling or lonely. (3) We will not shy away from difficult conversations; rather we will facilitate healthy dialogue between differing parties. (4) We show empathy which requires listening to others to understand their perspectives rather than simply focusing on being right. (4) The ultimate goal is to heal relationships and bridge divides through forgiveness and collaboration.
Prayer: Abba Father, Your love have been poured out in my heart by the Holy Spirit who You have given to me. Endue me with desire to follow the prompting of Spirit at all times and in all things, and to seek peace and pursue it in all situations, in the mighty Name of Jesus I pray, Amen
